Spring effects
You see, genuine fear yesterday, when I got off in order to stay safe, turned into silly excuses today. OK it was nothing like the battles that we used to have, but it still took ten minutes to get Jazz past the road closed sign, which by now has blown over in the wind. And he had already tried to be silly twice before he got to it, for no reason that I could tell except that he seemed to be trying to find things to get scared about. This probably sets the tone for the summer now, we'll see!
I'm having no luck finding horses to go and see. I'm waiting for photos of a 17.2hh in Yorkshire, black, that might be worth a trip. I don't want a mare because I want to take no risks at all with possible hormone fluctuations. With my current luck I'd get one that goes doolally when she's in season! There is just hardly anything up for sale at a sensible price at the moment. People still think the market will bear £6k for a 4 year old nondescript horse who has done not much. I know Zippy is on at £12k but last year he'd have been £15 or 20k! Besides, I don't need him to sell right now, I have all summer to play with.
Button had disappeared this morning. When I looked into the barn I could not see him anywhere. Then I realised that he was lying down with his little black legs tucked away underneath him, and being very much the same colour as the surface, I missed him. He looked so tiny and so sweet curled up there, no more than the size of a labrador. It was a shame he got up when he saw me.

Have you considered a trip to Ireland? From what I hear they are very hard hit by the economy and they always have great horses. Not too far to travel.
My trainer is interested in seeing vids of Zip. He has been sick so he just answered me. I sent him another link to the ad.
He says he also has a client looking for a horse. No idea about the money.
Here in the USA people are getting a little more practical with the prices, I think. But still, finding a good horse is a challenge. Someone on another blog just had a lovely Thoroughbred given to her on trial from a friend. No price discussed yet, but I hope it works out. The horse is super looking and seems to have a great attitude.
Little ball of fluff Button must melt your heart every time you see him. I know he thinks he's tough, but I wonder if he knows he's cute? *s*

ER I have researched Gorsbridge, the big sales. The trouble is that the trip over would cost about £500 and horse transport costs the same, adding £1000 to the cost of the horse. I have found a 17.2 George to look at for £3000 (black with three white socks, very similar, 1/2 TB half carthorse mare) so the cost is prohibitive unless I wanted a holiday in Ireland :-)
I am promised a video camera for my birthday and coincidentally am having a lesson that day for SH to practice with the vid on. So I will have video to send by about the 18th March Jean.
He looked like a little powder puff Claire :-) He's a bit itchy in all that fur. If the weather warms up after today's snow stops then I'm going to clip it off to make him more comfortable.

Do you think Jazz is taking full advantage of your situation with Zip. Maybe your mind isnt quite on the job at the mo. Dont panic about finding a horse it's likely the right horse will find you.

Jazz takes advantage of any and every weakness that he can Anne! It's likely that he can feel my stress levels and that it's upsetting him.
Button will be incredibly tiny under that coat, but it's so thatched that it seems only fair to take it off for him. Next winter he'll have been in at night and groomed, so it won't be as bad.
