Still waiting ........
The good news is that Jazz's lameness is most definitely an abscess and that it is most definitely going to burst out at the top of the foot in the centre of the toe. The bad news is that in spite of a night in a poultice, it just won't give in and burst. I stuck a needle in it this morning, which he wasn't too delighted about, to weaken the skin and give it an easier exit point. We'll see what has happened by tonight.
Tetley is still 595 kg according to the weight tape. But according to the eyes he is MUCH heavier than he was when he arrived. The trouble is that Tettle's spine was so prominent when he came home that there were great hollows underneath the weigh tape. Those hollows are filling in fast, but they don't make the tape any longer in spite of him weighing a lot more. Now, to be absolutely fair, I can make him look a lot worse than that on camera, but I think you can see how much less prominent his spine is, and of course when he is bent towards the camera as he is here, he now has enough fat on his ribs to make them much more difficult to see. His hip bone is still very prominent, but he does have big hips, and his neck has got quite a bit thicker so his head looks smaller in proportion. I am extremely happy with how he is coming on. Another month and he will be right back on top form. Oh, and can't you just see from the look on his face how happy he is?
I rode Tia this morning and one of the walk to canters was a bit sticky. Most of her work was good though. I am hopeful of the girl who is coming to see her on Sunday, she is everything that I wanted for Tia, including believing in barefoot. It's too good to be true of course :-)
Zip behaved today - into his own box without trespassing in anyone else's first. He's growing like topsy, and the really nice thing is that his head (which was long and thin) is developing jowls as he matures. He will be SUCH an atttactive horse if he gets jowls. I don't regret buying him for one moment.

Good work, he's definitely looking better. Is it the photo, or does his head look too big for his body at the moment?

It's not the photo Tracey, it's how thin he is. He's like Posh Spice and the other Lollipop Ladies, they keep their bodies so unnaturally thin that their heads look enormous :-) He does have a big head, but not THAT big !

Guy I got Polo from bought a Pacer in that kind of condition (he'd been raced like that)..when I first saw him I remember asking why his head was too big for his body(I was 13at the time)
He ended up being a fantastic race horse and was a real gentle soul.
It seems to be this type of horse who suffers the worst abuse they are too generous and well mannered to kick up a fuss:(

Tetley does look a lot better. Still far from good, but an amazing recovery so far.
Interesting comments from Lou on your last post about v. Tetley was not her first victim, nor will he be her last. I hope the boarders keep deserting.
Abscesses are such a nuisance, but if that's Jazz's problem it's a lot better than the alternatives. May it "pop" soon.
Now that you have this set of Zip's adventuring somewhat under control, I am here to assure you he is plotting his next move. Watch your back, the little wheels are turning in his head even as I write. *G*

I have to admit being disappointed that you all think he's still so thin. I got so used to seeing his bones that all I can see now is them disappearing day by day. You're right though, he is still at least 50 kilos under a good fighting weight. Time will sort it.
Nicola I think you're right about the longsufferings ones. Apparently there was another big horse withno food or water in his box and he kicked out the back wall. Good on him!
Jean he keeps heading towards the house. Do you think I'll find him curled up on the end of the bed one morning :-) ?
