OUT damned spot!

Jazz now has a big blister on his coronet but it STILL won't pop properly. I got a dribble of pus out this morning, but it was followed by blood so it's still not coming out as it should. He has the physical and mental resilience of a gnat and is whinging and whinging!! He's in the barn right now with a mag sulphate poultice on it. I tried leaving the big doors a foot apart, tied with a rope, so that he could see out. After he'd charged at the rope twice, I shut the doors so he's all on his own with no-one to blame but himself!

Tetley is the same as ever. He's on 5 kilos a day cubes and unlimited haylage in 14 hours overnight. He'll make steady progress now I think. I could ride him soon to build up some muscle but I can't quite see the point. My field, as you know, has a severe slope on it, and that will build him back up soon enough.

Jazz nicked a mouthful of Tia's food this morning before going into his stable and eating his own. I caught him just as he was about to taste Jazz's porridge. He'd already tried Mummy Bear's and was going for Daddy's :-) He was half in the door and from yards away I yelled "ZIP! NO!" and he backed out and went into his own box. He knows! Cheeky sod.

I got a phone call last night from someone wanting to see Tia at 10.30 this morning. A girl of late teens, very small, wanting a horse to do everything on and have fun. Her ambition is to jump a metre and do British Discovery showjumping and some eventing. She came up with her mum, and they both loved her. They said she was very well put together, very pretty (they kept saying that!) and they couldn't get over how sweet and quiet she was. We've arranged that they are going to book my local training place and I'll take her over there so they can canter her in a nice big area and do a bit of jumping. I haven't got much doubt that they will want to buy her after that, so that's nice. I've still got the girl who's outgrown her pony coming tomorrow too. That's a home I think I'd prefer (they have their own stables instead of livery) and I've made no commitment to today's people about giving them first option.

When I saw the right sized person on Tia, I knew it was the right thing to do. She looked absolutely grand!

Whoops, looks like you did the same thing I did the other day and posted twice.

Well, that is good news about Tia, but I do agree with you about the livery. If someone could keep her at home that would be so much better.

Jazz may be whimpy, but I should think that his foot really does hurt. Maybe the poultice will do the trick double time.

And Mr. Zip needs to come to stay with Tucker. The two of them could compete for horse burgler of the month. I was cleaning Chance's stall as he was finishing his breakfast and Tucker came out of his stall to cross the aisle to lean over to steal Chance's food. He saw me, I said, "Get back in your own stall," and he high tailed it--where, I might add, he still had over half a ration of alfalfa cubes of his own to finish.

Tia may be sweet, but her manners and training are all because of you. I keep thinking how wonderful Mary Lou says Tetley is and how wonderful to ride. That is a definite tribute to your skill. I can't wait to hear how Zip progresses from stable monster to saddle master. It's going to be fun.
