At last - people who knew their stuff.
Zippy's viewer yesterday flew her trainer in from Tenerife to come and see horses with her. So if she takes him, he'll be an expat horse! They liked him a lot, and tomorrow I'm taking him to the Equestrian Centre so that they can see how he performs in a big busy environment.
Ulrike the Swedish trainer was probably six foot two and the potential buyer was all of a foot shorter :-))) Ulrike trains with Kyra Kirkland and she knew what she was looking at. I was able to ride him so he showed himself off, instead of having to try to get the outline the other viewers wanted to see. It was a real relief to meet someone who has Sonia's knowledge and who agreed every bit with how good Sonia thinks he is. She actually said that his paces were "all there" but that "there's plenty more to come yet".
He was a good boy. He even produced his medium trot out on the outdoor. And did some nice walk to canter too. He hasn't been keen to do medium before on that surface. He must fancy a life in the sun, maybe?

ps Jazz has just done his first REAL flying change, right on the aid. He just took a huge spring from one lead straight onto the other. It was like jumping a fence!! Wooohooo what a fantastic feeling, no wonder you love it Jean!

This sounds like a really good match for Zipster. AS much as I hate to see him leave you, how wonderful it would be for him to go to someone with the knowlege and skill to bring out his full potential.
The other thing I love about the changes is that once you "get" them, the canter suddenly becomes a totally maneuverable gait. You no longer have to think about leads when you are riding, but just change direction at will without stopping, using whichever lead you decide on.
It still will take a little time and practice for Jazz to master the changes on both leads, but once he does, the tempis are "in the bag." At last, your dream will come true. I am so happy for you both! ;)))))))))))
Great that you've found a potential buyer who is on the same wavelength and knows what they are looking at (and for!). How do you feel about Z going to sunnier climes? I guess it might feel as though you really are letting go in a big way - how easy is it to 'keep tabs' on a horse that's in a different country. I guess there's email etc but is it possible to look online at their equivalent of BD etc?

I'd love Zippy to go abroad. I know how good a horse he is and I really don't want to see him around this area doing the stuff he can do and know that I gave him up! He will just love being in a hot dry climate too.
I think the lead Jazz got it on this morning was the one he finds more difficult Jean. It's the one he bucks on, so I am almost sure. I didn't try for one on the other rein, because that one was so good and so intoxicating I just had to reward him by letting him stop work!
I understand exactly what you mean that the canter "suddenly becomes a totally maneuverable gait". It happened this morning like a switch being pressed. Suddenly he was able to bend to the inside, while remaining on the outside lead and felt so balanced and powerful in that counter canter that I felt completely able to straighten him up the long side and ask for a change. Fantastic. Yup, still buzzing.

I have everything crossed for Zippy and you, there is something about horses abroad standing in shade swishing their tales, nodding in the heat - yes they look happy not standing with their bums against the wind and rain he will have a whale of a time she sounds just the job - knowlegable, money and a will to have the best!
