All Zipped up.
I decided to ride Zippy for ten minutes today. He went crazy, reared and fell ov..... you're not buying this, are you? OK, he was a fabby good boy, light and bendy and perfectly behaved. I only did five minutes, I just wanted to prove to myself that he'd be OK.
George, I think, has "got it" at last. I got him to stretch out again today and it really feels as if it has changed his attitude to find that he can seek forward to the bit on a really long rein. I hope this is permanent, becuase if so he will go from strength to strength. We did 25 minutes.
Then I took Jazz for a half hour hack. He was super. He didn't spook once. When we turned for home he tried to carry on. He was absolutely sure-footed even on the rough stones when I had to move him over for a car to pass. We passed a huge tractor with an enormous grass cutter on the back on the way home and all he did was walk crabwise a bit.
SO I've had a great day. The arm seems to be perfectly happy. As am I!

Yo have three stars to ride! Now that's going to be your goal? A three star event to match the horses? *G* (Bad joke....)
I am so pleased about George. If it really sticks, as I said the last time, you have conquered nearly all your training issues with him. Relaxing that back and reaching for the bit is the whole key to all the rest. Way to go, Georgie!
I give Jazz high points for his hacking demeanor too. Better than all but one of my Boys. Then again, Chance, the trailmaster, hasn't passed a big farm machine yet either.
And Zip...as long as his hoof manners do not carry into the saddle, all is well. But he is generally a honey to ride. Glad to know he redeemed himself and you were wise enough to just take it easy for the first time back up on him.
