Two into one won't go.

It was so utterly foul this morning, with a gale force wind and driving sleet, that I left the boys in the barn with more haylage and headed off out for a coffee with a sick friend. It brightened a fair bit by mid-morning, so SH went to let them out for me. Unfortunately, George attempted to get through the little barn door at the same time as Zippy and between the pair of them they have ripped two ten by eight metal barn doors off their runners. George has done this twice before in a more minor way and I really thought he had it worked out now that there just isn't room for more than one horse to get through that door. In the upset of being done by SH and not by me, and the high winds, and late, I guess he just panicked.

I've been out and got them to trot around the field and they all look absolutely sound, even on the slope in the mud. So I don't think anything major like a pelvis has suffered anywhere. George has a bit of hair scraped off his leg, with the skin unbroken, and one minor surface wound on his pastern that looks like he trod on himself. I'm guessing both him and Zippy will be stiff tomorrow but hopefully no more harm done than that. Too close for comfort though!

Tonight, I would open the big doors to be safe, but of course they won't open any more, they've come off their runners and the runners are all bent!

I intend to ride tomorrow if George is OK. I thought it would be me that was the limitation!

STOP PRESS

George is fine. He has some hair missing and a very very superficial graze. Zippy has a tiny piece of hair missing on a paster. No swellings, bruises or broken ribs that I can feel on either of them. Got away with it, phew!
