cor doesn't he look different under saddle, taller and more elegant and carrying himself really nicely......definately a good buy!
he looks RATHER special, Caroline; the mind boggles why the vendors sold him so cheaply. You've got a really good horse there, I think...
Wow big difference in how he's working and although he's not as big as you'd usually prefer he def doesnt look too small for you!
There is something special about black horse's isnt there..Polo's mum was black.
I think I'm in love! George looks great. Pleased to note his nervousness with another rider doesn't show too much unless I look at how nice and round he looks under you first. *G*
Nice with his front end over the fence. He knows to pick up his knees, so I am surmising he is jumping off his hind end as well so none of that "scramble off the forehand" feel some horses give.
I agree about his color. His gorgeous black coat is well...gorgeous! What a buy!
Nicola, he rides huge - more like 16.2! It's easier for a black horse to look smart than pretty much any other colour I think. But he is changing rapidly from the horse I bought.
When we picked him up he was a depressed and unconfident little fellow. I actually wondered if he had an injury to his withers, because his shoulder blades were higher than his wither bone, which was sunken.
Lately, he has flowered, and as I watched him trot off in the field this morning he looked such a darned happy fellow. And it has been reflected in his carriage, which now looks proud and confident.
He used to plait with the front legs when he walked and that stopped after a few days. Now he is four square and moves dead straight and is even beginning to bounce. His front end stride length is twice what it was a week or two ago, as his shoulders lift.
So he is a better horse than I bought, but still it has to be said that they did not realise either his potential or the actual quality of the horse they were selling. Lucky old me, he and I were in the right place at the right time. I am really, really looking forward to competing him, and not just as a stand in either, in his own right as a really nice horse.
His jump is most definitely a punch off the back end Jean! No scrambling for George :-) He spots the fence from three or four strides out and nothing's going to stop him once he's latched on, you can see it in his face! Just what I need to get me back in the swing after this broken shoulder.
I'm currently practising the one movement that will stop me jumping - moving my whole arm forwards with a bent elbow. It's getting better - I can do it pain-free if I support it with my right hand. A few more days and I hope to be able to go training next week.
