He did it again!

Zippy walked away from me again this morning, so I chucked Jazz out into the yard and turned to pick up the muck bucket, and there the little tyke was, on three legs, waiting for me to pick out his feet. Honestly, from the way he'd walked away, you would have thought he was afraid of being caught, but when he realises that it's got him nowhere, he is confident and quiet and doesn't seem at all worried. He just stands there, no headcollar or anything, and picks his feet up really politely. I think he's just playing games!

Jazz and I went out for a ride that we don't do very often because of the traffic. He was a good boy, silly once or twice but nothing too serious, and we had a good time. Towards the end of the ride is a trot up at least half a mile of steep hill, and he managed it just fine.

Then I took Zippy out for 35-40 minutes. Considering that he has not been ridden out for absolutely weeks, he was extremely good. He didn't really settle and he kept trying to jog, but you couldn't really fault his behaviour. He's getting a very big boy now, I must get hte stick on him again. Before January 12th he's due a lfu jab. I plan to hire an arena while I am at the vets and get a video and some pictures to show you. I'm really looking forward to it.

I hope everyone else has had some good weather. Ours was dry and calm, with a mostly clear blue sky :-) The forecast for the rest of the week is not so good, so it's just as well we are indoors for showjumping practice on Friday. Can't wait!

ps I so so so sooooooo wanted to go hunting today. The meet was local and I know that he would be at least as fit as at least half the field. But I also know that he has only been doing 1 hour's work at a time. To take him hunting for several hours, even with lengthy checks, would be just asking for him to get tired, step on a soggy bit of field, and pull a tendon that would put him out for a year. It was SO difficult not to go, and I'm quite proud of myself that I managed to put him first, not me.

Good choice about the hunt. The temptation must have been really strong, especially with the good weather, but for Jazz's sake, you made the wise choice.

As for Zip, I am sure he knows what he's doing. There is a definite devil inside him. I am beginning to think he is far too smart for his own good...sounds even more like a certain Thoroughbred I know....*G*

I think I need to keep him busier, Jean, what do you reckon? I think he's got too much time to plan mischevious stuff! It'll be interesting to see how he is tomorrow after working harder today.

Ha ha just shows how much you think of him not to have gone!

Weather wasnt bad here today, its dry and pretty mild dont suppose you can ask for more than that in December.

I reckon I'd think about trying the Ranitidene for Zippy he does have some rather 'odd' behaviours, some of which sounds a bit erratic and slightly similar to the YO's pony who I 'think' is a genuine ulcer candidate?
