Back on board

I'm still mucking out by shovelling poo with my foot, rather than bending down and picking it up. There is something about the down-and-up motion that is really ill-making! But I managed to ride. Not to groom, so that goodness they were clean enough to put tack on. I didn't have enough energy for both!

Jazz was a sweetie pie. He was lovely, just doing some gentle walk work. It was so cold, even inside the barn, that I had to get off and fetch another coat and another pair of gloves. He thought we'd finished and it was a puzzle to unlock him and start again, but we got there.

Zippy was dippy. He gets more twitchy as he gets older, not less. He's going to be one sharp cookie! He'd scare an inexperienced rider to death - not that he is naughty or difficult to stay on, just that he feels so twitchy and reactive. I only did ten minutes, just to remind him I exist.

I think Jazz had missed me. He kept on and on wrinkling his nose on my clothes and my hands - that "invitation to groom" thing that they do. He seemed so pleased that I wanted to spend time with him today. What a sweetheart.
