I haven't ridden the boys today so I just thought you might like to see a picture of what solid creature Jazz has turned into. All this is muscle, there's hardly any fat on him. If he carried the weight that most people seem to like to see on their horses these days, he would be absolutely huge!

I agree with Mandeigh about Jazz's face. When you first got him I'm not sure he looked quite that handsome. I think he's grown into it beautifully.

I do agree with you all that Jazz has a lovely face now. And Jean I think that you are right and he has grown into it. When we first saw him he was nothing special to look at, but now he has one of those faces with big eyes, a very wide forehead, huge jowls tapering down to a tiny nose and mouth and is really quite lovely. If he had less white, he would look stunning, but I kind of like the kooky white bits :-) I use a very wide noseband that goes exactly across where the stripe turns into a white nose, and it suits him perfectly.
Grass can be more trouble than it's worth Muriel :-) I've actually worked at letting my ten acres become degraded into a wild flower meadow, so that it has less calories but more vitamins and minerals in it. I like my boys to go out full time in summer, but I don't want them fat, so rich grass is no good at all. It seems to have done well this year, I'm pleased with it.
