Siberia!

SO much snow that we still can't even drive up the road in a 4x4. It's very annoying because the road is clear up the top and the bottom but no-one has ploughed our hill yet. The guy who used to do it died this summer (age 56!) and his replacement is not doing a very good job :-(

So I hd no excuse but to ride, and ride I did. Jazz first. He was lovely. He did flying changes in both directions and we worked on a bit more half pass left in trot. We finished with some really "sat" and elevated trot, slowing to almost piaffe and then punching out again. He tried very hard and didn't argue once. He was a jolly good boy.

Unlike Radar. Who was sulky because he hasn't been able to get out and play and he tried, and tried, and tried again, to provoke me into a fight. It got him nowhere and every time he jumped in the air, or half reared, to tell me that he WAS NOT, AM NOT, WILL NOT NOT NOT !!!! going to do shoulder in to the left I just came around calmly and asked again or in a different way. He got the message eventually and did shoulder in. Then threw ALL his toys out of the pram when asked to trot and went dashing off madly as if a bee had bitten his bum. We got through that too, in the end, by which time he had given himself a jolly good workout! He'll be fit enough to hunt soon.

If New Year's Day's hunt is on, I doubt if we will be able to get the lorry there ..... roll on Spring!

Did I say I hate snow? I think I am repeating myself.

We, thank heavens, do have good plowing around here, so the only issue is to get our own driveways open. Trouble is, the zealous road crew will often plow the ends back in if they come by after you've cleared out.

Jazz still seems to be enoying the challenge of his dressage. Good boy.

Radar? Well, he still doesn't see the point of simply going around in circles. Much more of an adventurer, I think. Still, he has come far in his schooling when you think about it.

I am SICK of this snow! We couldn't get out at all today, even in a 4x4. We once had a guy snow-blow right into the middle of the yard we had just cleared Jean. We were NOT amused!

No riding again today. Road is lethal, so are the fields. We have to take a 5 mile detour to get into town because our way out is blocked by snow and abandoned cars. I'm going to bed!
