No hunting for Radar tomorrow.

I was afraid that I overdid things with Radar on the horrible stone tracks that we were on on Tuesday, because he was ever so slightly "off" on Wednesday, same on Thursday, definitely off on his near fore this morning and feeling stones in the gateway this evening. But now I have found a tiny hole, like the prick of a small nail, in his foot which is almost certainly the problem, because it is close to where his foot seems warm, and appears to be where he is avoiding putting too much weight.

There was a lot of hawthorne in the area where we were riding and there has been a suggestion on UKNHCP that it sounds more like a thorn than damage from treading on stones. I have to agree with that, it does look like a thorn hole not a stone hole.

Anyway, I'm sure he will be absolutely fine in a day or two, but he isn't 100% and I won't risk him tomorrow even though he would probably be OK. It simply isn't worth it. If by some miracle the weather forecast is incorrect and the day is dry and the hunt goes ahead after a night of rain (which has already been falling for three hours as I write), then I shall take Jazz.

He isn't hunting fit, of course, so we will go for the sociability of the meet, do one or possibly two runs, have a chat at the check(s) and come home again. It will be fun for him, and for me too.

Sounds like a good call, and perhaps your other boy will enjoy the outing!
