Good timing
Good timing today saw me eating porridge in McD while the rain came down, and getting out just now for a lovely dry, if a tad windy, hack on the big black babe. We went a different route for a change, down a road which I only use on Sundays because of the traffic. I was head to foot hi viz. He was shoulder to backside hi viz. It definitely works and I never ride on a road without it nowadays.
The ride includes a half mile (maybe a little more) of a steady rise of at least 10%. Try that on a treadmill, it's quite an effort! He trotted up it gaily, trying to break into canter from time to time. He got to the top where it levels and was game just to carry on. A major and dangerous A-road put paid to that idea, but we did have some fun watching them trying to extract the latest car to have run off the road and into a field. That happens a couple of times a week at this time of year, more if there's ice around. In summer it's motorbikes flying instead!
Can you all start a dry-dance now please, I'd like to hunt on Saturday :-)))

i started a dry dance a few days ago....
hi viz rocks, i get so hacked off when i see people without it .. back in the late summer, a lady rode out of a yard when it was getting on dusk, no hi viz, i barely saw her, so i stopped and said "hi viz" she said, i can usually hear the cars coming .. DOH!
She's a sandwich short of a picnic, with that attitude, eh Claire?

My hi viz is so the hunters don't shoot us. Bright, bright orange jacket, hat thingie, and, when I'm worried about the horse...bright pink quarter sheet.
Riding along the road here would be suicide, even with bells, whistles, hi viz, flashing lights, and fireworks. Big huge trucks speed by and the cars go even faster. And, there is hardly a shoulder on the road itself. *shiver*
Radar sounds fit and ready for a good weekend hunt. May the sun shine for you both. *dances off on her bad knees*

Lots of the people on our yard make comments when I have my hi viz coat on, with a sighly baffled voice,I find it very odd!
I can well remember that road running up to your place Caroline, a few boy racers flew past me when I visited.
Im desperate for some dry weather,I hate constantly being up to the eyes in mud.
Dry weather??? Nicola you must be drowned by now!
Your dry dances aren't working folks! There is no news from here because we have been doing nothing!! It's tooooo fffffffflipping wet, and wild with it.
Oh well, Sonia lesson tomorrow, in the indoor probably. Thank goodness she's got one!
