Scared of his own shadow.
Jazz was scared of his own shadow today. I'm not using that expression figuratively, he was actually so scared of his own shadow on the road that he turned tail and ran for home!
To be fair, the sun was low in the sky behind him, on a crisp, clear and blue-skied day. His shadow was so long, that about four feet in front of him, the tails of his hi-vis sheet were waving around as he trotted. And my head was bobbing up and down above his. He was just terrified of stepping on this apparition, because until I made him, he had no idea that it was going to keep moving away in front of him!
We had a lovely hack apart from that, mostly because the weather was just so absolutely fantastic.
Buttie is now my little raspberry pippin. He has his raspberry coloured rug on if it rains during the day, because he has such a thick coat that if he gets wet it just never dries out. I can't give him his favourite back rub if his coat is sodden and matted, so I figured that he should just have his rug on. And he does look cute in it!

Tucker used to react to his shadow in the arena like that. His shadow would throw itself on the elevated ground just a bit ahead of him and he'd spook from it. Apparently both Jazz and Tucker can trace their bloodlnes back to Bucephalus!
Buttie must be as cute as well....cute as a button in hit outfit. *G* Good move to keep him dry so he can get his scratches from you. Soggy coat would never do.
i've never had one do that - but possibly only because i haven't ridden at a moment when that was likely to happen! scary
Buttie is cute in "hit" outfit? I think he's cute in "his" outfit too! *blush*
We knew what you meant :-) He's like little rosehip - smooth and red on the outside and furry in the middle.
Jazz will never be a horse for a novice Claire, not even when he's twenty! :-)
