Still musing ...
I am still gently musing over how Radar can possibly have turned out so fantastic. If anyone schooled him or even hacked him they would never guess what he performs like in the hunting field. He is so unsettled in his walk and unbalanced on turns and circles. Having said that, once he realised that we were definitely on our way home today he gave me about fifteen minutes of a lovely swinging walk which bodes very well for his future comfort as a hack.
I haven't ridden Jazz yet because Radar and I hacked up to a friend's for breakfast and so that she could ride back part of the way with her youngster. It was ab sol ooot ly perishing!! I would never have ridden out except that I knew that she was depending on me. In the end it was a great incentive, because Radar won't need much more work this week now, so it's worked out well.
Jazz and I are off to Sonia tomorrow, snow allowing. If he produces the bounce that I am seeing him do in the field at the moment, we'll have a good session.

I am officially now in "whining phase" about this weather. Trouble is, we had a few nice days as a tease before the snowstorm and now another snowstorm is in the forecast.
Glad to hear you braved the weather and took Radar out. I'm sure he enjoyed himself.
Hope the weather holds so you get that lesson in. Jazz needs an ego boost after his buddy performed so well on the weekend. And you could use a little discipline in the arena yourself. *G* (Have to keep an eye on you so you don't revert to the pre-dressage days. *lol*)
Cripes, more snow forcast and I can see the back of my haystore. Eek.
My horse is being a nightmare. Vet says don't turn out until he is doing 1 hour's steady work, only I haven't managed to get a saddle on him yet. Normally he is Mr. Laid Back Horizontal, but is now being a complete and utter prat. Unfortunately leaping and squealing on the road or in a field with cattle grids is not soothing for the nerves. I am seriously thinking of sending him to a livery yard where they have good facilities. If he goes there he will think "I have to work here" as he goes there if I am away for any length of time.
It's like he speaks hunting language not flat work language. "But I don't wanna do it", he complains when there is no fence or hedge or wide open field to gallop in. What a great attitude to life! So nice that you two can share such enthusiasm.
what snow?
Hi Caroline, I've just caught up on your last 10 days after my skiing holiday. Fantastic is all I can say, you're so lucky to have a ride like that, and if he wants to do hunting and XC in the off season, I bet you won't be complaining about him not being the best dressage horse eh?
I remember you nearly hanging up your BE hat a while ago, I think I can see you putting it back on this season with your miracle find horse.
p.s. Isn't it about time you upped your rides to 3 again??? tee hee

Jean I'm whining about the weather too. More snow last night and this morning. Enough now!!
I think I'd send him off and get someone else to do the donkey work Judith - too tempting.

Hi Tracey, I hope the holiday was fun. It will be tempting to have a horse that can event again, but I've no plans to affiliate at the moment - have you checked out this year's entry fees???
Three? Weeellllll - I am looking for a navicular rehab if I can find one.

Last year's entry fees had me running scared I can tell you! Its a non-starter for me now, and I'm glad to say that local events are starting to spring up again as I think there are quite a few of us who just can't afford the "proper stuff"!!
I'm sure a Navicular rehab will pop up pretty quick if you're looking, there must be thousands, if the owners are open to selling. Under 10 would be nice eh?
