Just time for a hack
I was working today but got time for a hack on Jazz before I caught the train.I wasn't feeling much like schooling and his feet were due a rasping on the road, so off we went in our violent yellow finery. He snorted at every remaining piece of snow, so he was snorting continuously for 50 minutes :-))) But we had fun, and he was swinging along happily enough.
I'm still getting flashbacks about Saturday. I remember jumping a hedge alongside a hunt fence. A nice girl called Lesley was jumping the hunt fence on Frankie, her gypsy cob from Cobs'n'plods (I kid you not!) and Radar jumped the hedge at exactly the same time. Lesley called out "woo hoo Ray -darrr" while looking up at me from about three feet lower down. That was fun :-)
Tomorrow we are off to Sonia for the first time in nearly two months. I am looking forward to it.

Isn't it great when the highlights of a fabulous ride fill up your emotions days later? I can still recall the feeling of a few jumps I took with Russell some 30 years ago. Memories like that last a lifetime.
A fun ride with Jazz--will it be prelude to an equally fun lesson? I have a good feeling about it!
Cobs'n'plods? Sounds like my kind of horses nowadays. *lol*
hope jazz remembers all his lessons!

never heard of them before!
Thanks for the link, Claire. What a great idea! Apparently they lease hunters for anyone who wants to go out and have a good time on a safe horse.
And their sale horses look great too. Love the concept of selling safe, reliable family horses. Ought to be more places like that around here--with good solid reputations.
It's normally about £150 a day to hire a horse to hunt Jean. I don't know about that site, but it won't be cheap. Frankie is a common looking little fellow and he came with a set of neuroses and badbehaviours (known when he was bought, totally honest dealers). So he was cheap, but Lesley has sorted him out and now he jumps all but the biggst hedges just for the fun of it and he is only about 14 hands. She is a cracking little rider.
