Too hot to work
Jazz made it perfectly clear this evening that he thought it was too hot to work. It took me 5 minutes to warm him up. Fifty stroppy, tiring, soaking minutes to get him to do a decent canter/walk. And two minutes to get several decent tries at flying change. if I hadn't had him in a double bridle he would have left the arena at least half a dozen times. As it was, he needed a jolly good bath when we finished and I wasn't far behind him.
Radar was a very good boy. I would have hacked out but it was threatening to rain so I rode on the arena where I could easily run for cover. He did as good a walk and trot as he has ever done. And then he finished off with some really decent canter for a horse who knows as little as he does. The one on the right rein was considerably improved from last time I tried it, and this is only our second go at canter circles.

Same weather here, but I didn't even try to ride. If the storm doesn't hit, I might go out later to lunge or something.
Glad to hear Radar is making such progress so quickly. Looks like he is bright enough to figure things out and chose going well as the better option. I think you underestimated his intelligence. The clever boy was just testing out yours. *vbwg*
Jazz still has his opinions, doesn't he? Hope he keeps the bulk of them to himself for tomorrow's lesson.
