Back to normal
Zippy had more locks on his back today than the local Drug Baron's front door. He was completely tied up in knots and it took a while to get him to stay out on the end of the rein. I freed him mostly with lateral work, but I also had to gather enough courage to tap him with the whip. He didn't react at all badly to it, which was a big relief. He didn't do any bucking today either, just a bit of threatening, propping and refusing to go forwards. I am sure the shorter saddle helps, because he is so much less challenging since I started using it.
Jazz and I went out for a nice hack, and he was jogging along - he's never done that before! Not one spook worthy of the name, either. We just had a fun, happy time.
Getting boring, isn't it :-) ?

Well, Zippy's not boring. That's why I am trying the "in hand" approach to encouraging the forward here. If the buck were not so unseating it would be a different matter. Both Tuck and Zip don't seem to buck over and over, but even just the one is too unsettling.
Well, hopefully Jazz has grown up and into himself nicely. I figure Zip ought too sooner or later as well.
Have you ever wondered if Tuck had rubbing spinal processes, Jean. I sometimes wonder about Zip, the way he wriggles and then "comes free" as if something was stuck and then comes unstuck. On the other hand it could simply be their temperaments!
