How much more?
It has rained almost continuously here for 48 hours. The boys have been in the last two nights. Today the two thin-skinned ones were out in their winter rugs. The good news is that we planned a jumpy session with George today but my tweaked back muscle prevented that, and we would have totally wasted our money because nobody could school outdoors in what was coming down from the skies this morning!
I took George into the barn instead and he was as tense as he usually is. I tried Carl Hester's suggestion that to calm a tense walk you only allow him to take one step at a time. It works, but it requires the patience of a saint. Patience is not my strong point, never mind the patience of a saint. Still, George did do some very realaxed slow walk - only the moment you drop your guard, he drops his back, drops the contact, and rushes off again. It makes me want to scream!
The work is obviously paying dividends though. I looked at him from a distance today and his neck is now long and elegant with a superb topline; his legs seem longer though they can't be, and his whole action is no longer that of a cob, like it was when I bought him. He's a smart hunter now and I'm looking forward to showing him off in the hunting field.

Its been horrendous hasnt it my track is like a bog although it doesnt seem to be bothering my two tough lads:)

Being one step at a time patient certainly tries my patience, but it certainly is good rider discipline.
We'll be in the same boat weatherwise--an ark--if the forecast holds. Tropical storm Hannah is headed this way with 3-7 inches of rain. I am supposed to have a lesson in the morning, but I suspect we may end up canceling. Think I'll wait to hitch up the trailer and just leave the truck in garage until I know for sure.
Rain, What rain? Lats two days have been stiffling hot, we are back inteh 37 degrees C. This afternoon, we are off to the pool ^-^
Is it the famous counted-walk, you were doing? They spoke a lot about it on EE. They were all using it for a while, it was the new aspirin of equitation ...
I wish you could come here to watch a PK instructor work. I think their method will be more in your taste ( regarding patience) it is quite pro-active.

No counting Muriel. Just refusing to let him take the next step until he gives to the bit and raises his back. Agonising but it works.
