The boys came in when they were called this morning. Apart from once when it was tipping down with rain, that's the fist time this summer. BUT ..... guess who was leading them in? GEORGE! Goodness me he's changing. And also it shows that he doesn't hold it against me being hard on him when I ride, doesn't it?
Talking of which I went for spurs today. He was offering to jog, so I figured that meant he finds jogging easier than walking properly and it was time to stop doing it. He backed off, but nowhere near as badly as usual, and I sent him out with the spurs. He got the message.
Then his trot transition was an appalling dash-for-it-and-chuck-my-head-in-the-air. But he got the message of running into the end wall and then offered some transitions which were really quite nice. The trot has improved immensely, light and balanced and with a lovely rythmn.
As an evasion a couple of times he went to canter, and to my shock I discovered that a horse that could not canter AT ALL in March, is now able to canter a perfectly decently balanced TEN METRE circle :-000 He's got some dressage talent this boy, he just hides it very well!!!
Then to Jazz - we went for a hack in our bling saddle and he was very sweet. But .... FOXGLOVES!!! Yes, Jazz, they have grown since the last time we hacked. BUT THEY'RE HORSE EATING FOXGLOVES! No, Jazz, they aren't, they're just flowers. What an odd boy he is :-)
Saddles! Now, Jazz does not suit black. Not at all. And if I ride him in the black one, I'll have to buy a black bridle just to look half way decent. And although George and Jazz can share the same one now, just, there is no guarantee that George will not get wider as he muscles up, whereas I think Jazz is probably done and dusted at a three plate. BUT. Jazz's saddle, it's now clear, was not made to my spec when I bought it. It's got "extra belly" in it, which stops me sitting into it and leaves me sat on top. I thought it was just that it needed to bed down, but over two years later it's clear it's not going to. So .... do I sell it because right now I don't need it? If so, how cross will I be in three or six months if Jazz and George are no longer the same? If I keep it, do I pay even more money to have the excess padding removed, because it really isn't comfortable compared to the others I've now got? Whew, decisions decisions!

Ah, George the dressage horse. Who would of figured? Once he believes it himself, he will be an awesome event horse.
The saddle dilemma is a problem. Reflocking would be worth it, I think as replacing the saddle down the line should you need to would be far more expensive. With Zip not fully grown, it's really hard to tell how much he's going to change. (One more reason I'm glad treeless worked for me.) Hate to see you sell off a good saddle you may need later.
Any chance the WOW makers might take pity on you and correct the mistake they made when first readying the saddle for you????

Foxgloves are well known horse killers..would have thought you'd have known that Caroline!!:)))
i'd go with jean's suggestion for now...
My WOW person says she thinks it will be very expensive to have it taken apart and the seat filling altered, so it might be a non-starter.
I'm waiting for her to get a price tomorrow. The rouble is that it's two years old, so no chance of a free correction. When it arrived
I thought it would settle over time but it never did. I'm really annoyed about it now - I paid £1600 for it!

Phooey. That's a bummer. My friend Stacie here in the USA does reflocking, but I wonder if that is the same thing as what your saddle needs. I take it the problem is actually the underlying structure of the seat itself, not the part that sits or fits the horse. How frustrating.
The problemi s only in the thickness of foam that they have put in the seat Jean, there's too much of it.
I've just got a quote of 2 hours maximum workshop time, so that makes it feasible and I think I'll have it done. It's a class piece of leather and I don't want to take a risk on getting stuff that's not as good on an exchange or an eBay purchase.
