Nice bling Mum!
Jazz loves the bling saddle. I don't think it was so much the fit of it, because I had it too low in front and not quite balanced. But I think he loves where it sits me, which is a lot closer to him because of the shape of the seat. He feels an awful lot wider in it, which is very interesting because he felt no wider in Zippy's saddle. It's a shame the black does not suit him, because the shape of it most certainly does.
I had hoped for the saddle to produce some kind of miracle with George, but no such luck. His evasion today consisted of fooling me that he was ready to walk, walking nicely for a few paces and then ever-so-gradually-hope-she-won't-notice backing off again. We jogged. And jogged. And jogged. I got fed up eventually and for a change did some trot. WOW, how the jogging has improved the trot! But no luck on the walk. Finally, I put him on serpentines and eventually he worked out that it really would be easier to walk them because the barn is so tight. The walk at the end was lovely - long and low and stretching, which is the first time he has ever offered that. He IS learning fast, but he's pretty determined not to show it!!
I trimmed Zippy's nails for him and very sweet they look. His little contracted heels have come down beautifully and are now just in the right place, with a superb toe plane to match, rolling over into a graceful sweep off the toe of his foot. :-))
Visitors tomorrow, probably can't ride :-(

Did you try lateral work at the walk with George to loosen him up? I forget what you've tried.
Turns on the haunches, turns on the forehand, shoulder in, renvers, travers, etc. mixing it up?
Also, my favorite exercise. Small circle right, then push the left hind in towards the right hand, and reverse to a circle on the left, then push the right hind in to the left hand and reverse to a circle on the right--each time pushing the hind end to the new outside rein.
Sometimes, pushing the hind leg laterally instead of forward will release it more easily and make the horse go forward in his stride.
Too, you can do a shoulder in about halfway up the long side, then cross the diagonal asking the gait to move on. The lateral work kind of contracts the muscles and they "want" to release when you let them.
You could incorporate some of the same exercises into the jogging, then do a downward when you feel the jog loosen up and try the walk.
Some good ideas there Jean.

Oh You are going to get extra- points for the bling saddle from the Dressage judges, just because they will believe you are a Dressage Queen and not a craze-X-C ^-^
