Good news for George lovers.
Jazz could not really have been any worse today. He's been to that event before and jumped those fences a year ago, albeit badly. It was absolutely TINY, he could step over them. And he was horrendous. From the moment we got there and he realised it was busy, his mind was anywhere but on the job. He refused at the tiny warm-up showjumps. He just ran straight past fence one, which must have been all of 15 inches high. I'll cut a long story short, he's no cross country horse!
So good news for George lovers, he's staying put for a good while yet! I can't bring myself to part with Jazz, who for all his faults makes me smile just to look at him. So it looks like three for a while......
So, just to remind ourselves what a REAL eventer looks like, here are George's photos, first two from Rodbaston, third from Draycott last weekend. And just to rub salt in the wound left by Jazz, the first two pictures are from the first event George ever did, and the third was his second ever outing.
Isn't he just the bestest?

When you line those pics up he looks absolutely outstanding...breath taking infact:)
However thats not to say im pleased about Jazz cos im not.I know what its like to have a horse with such ability but who doesnt have the mindset to reach their full potential.
It could be the quirks in their personality that makes them so appealing and difficult to consider parting with?
Anyway maybe Jazz its going be the horse to alter your ambitions for the long term and you'l end up a dressage diva:)

George looks absolutely gorgeous in the last two photos particularly. There is no doubt he is an eventer.
And Jazz is clearly not. He MAY be a show jumper, but he may not, so dressage may well be his forte. If so, that changes the training challenges considerably with three horses.
Zip, of course,is still the unknown quantity, but I am suspecting, with his personality and general attitude about life, if he has a physical aptitude for the jumping, he will be an eventer. There is a certain joie de vivre a good cross country horse has and I tend to believe Zip has it. Jazz, on the other hand, has a much more serious, concerned attitude towards life and thrives on the more disciplined, organized and less surprising side of training.
It will be interesting as to what happens.
Who cares about his flat work if he can jump like that!!! What great photos!

he may be a true eventer at heart, but You are a hell of horse-trainer. that horse did NOT look like he does now, when you bought him.

Jazz oh well, he is a Dressage horse, not everybody can be doctor or a policeman etc .. every horse has a "job" eventing is not Jazz's
Nicola I think you and I just don't like to accept defeat! Polo struck lucky finding you, and at the moment Jazz is in the same boat.
Jean there's a very marked difference in the look on his face between the first and second events. The photos from the second are oozing confidence and enthusiasm. The more he does the more he loves it. It's giving him confidence at home too - he has started telling the others where to get off pushing him around.
You have a point ML. I think by next year though, we'll be well into the 60's for his dressage because he's basically obedient and has a nice set of paces when he can hold it together.
