We're going places!
Well it went very, very well. We went back to Adlington, which is where Jazz went absolutely ballistic two weeks ago. He travelled most of the way on his own, and all he did was paw a lot. I mean A LOT. But I'm grateful that's all he's doing. The lorry is totally clad in rubber sheet, neoprene, drainpipe, hosepipe and about 2 miles of duct tape, so even though both his front boots came off he did no damage to himself or to anything else. The clips were excellent, the rope and the knots all held, and we are able to travel safely, thank goodness. It was nerve wracking pulling into the yard, and he did test the ropes out twice, but he never got more than a couple of inches off the floor and we breathed again.
He was pretty aerated after the trip and didn't want to settle and school. But he isn't stupid and doesn't even think about getting me off, he just runs around a bit with not much steering :-) All the while looking totally fabulous with a huge crest and his feet hardly touching the floor - you can see him in the glass wall of the cafe! To make the session worthwhile (I only had 45 minutes, the school was booked up) I put him in a pelham after 10 minutes and we did some canter practice. He doesn't want to canter left, but we did get some decent stuff. He got stuffy a couple of times so I asked him to push on, because the school is huge and there's plenty of room. His stride is pretty huge too, he certainly moves!
Poor Tibaby got left out again, but I'll have some time for her tomorrow. Then Friday we take Jazz to see REAL showjumps for the first time. Oooh, it's all so exciting!!!

good news; as others have said, expect he'll eventually settle down altogether... (hope so, anyway!)
Way to go! The pawing is a nuisance, but he's smart enough to figure out that it doesn't accomplish anything. The more you can ignore him when he does it the better. That way he won't even be getting your attention when he does it, so what's the reward?
Sounds as if the riding was pretty successful too. Nice that you could see yourself in the windows. It's always good to be able to see what you look like--a pretty picture, I'd wager.
Ann I shall be keeping Superhubby busy with the poles, but I'll ask him what he can do.
He did manage tobruise himself yesterday, or at any rate he has a slightly warm and slightly fat leg this morning, right where he was bashing it most. He's perfectly sound though.
Too right about no reward Jean, that's why I put a spyhole in the door - so that I could make sure he wasn't jurting himself without rewarding him with my attention.
I hope you're right Claire!
