Here’s a pic or two of his head. Like I said, he isn’t pretty. But movement + temperament costs an arm and a leg. Movement + temperament + near-perfect conformation costs two arms and a leg (that’s him) and movement + temperament +near-perfect conformation + pretty looks costs both arms and both legs and one of your eyes. Tell me what you think anyway.
You can see his odd brindle patch on his cheek. He has one other on his near side girth area.
And his “wild” eye on the near side, which is white ringed.
We have negotiated a slight reduction in his price from extortionate to extremely expensive. Subject to me riding him on Monday and liking the way he feels, then I will buy him, because he presses every hot button I have, from his colour to his jumping, via his dressage potential, height and temperament on the way. Allan is convinced he's the right horse for me and that's not usual for him and neither is he usually wrong (he admits he was wrong about Tia!). He is only 4 and recently broken, and already works like an eight year old, so his athletic ability is phenomenal.
Caddy has been delivered to his new home and it is absolutely fantastic. He was met by a crowd of six Manchester blonds who were all oohing and ahing before he was even unloaded. He's already prince of the place. He tucked into a two foot deep bed of straw before he decided that the enormous netfull of haylage was a better idea. The stables are brand new and roomy and he has full site of all his neighbours. A great big grey Irish Draft mare is to be his nanny. Cheryl can't believe her luck that I let her have such a gorgeous horse for so little money, and in turn I'm pleased that she will think he is the bee's knees.
It's a glorious day here but I am emotionally wrung out and about to go have a lie down instead of riding Tia. I continue to be inundated with offers of homes for Tetley but the girl coming tomorrow is very, very keen and I already have a second firm offer which I will certainly accept if Victoria isn't right.
Everything is moving in a positive direction very fast at the moment. Stop press report on Tetley tomorrow lunchtime.

Pretty is as pretty does. (To coin and old cliche.)
He's actually kind of cute. There's a solid, sensible appearance there.
I totally agree about looks and function, especially for eventing. You seem to have confidence in this fellow already which is worth more than anything. I keep remembering a big black, very ordinary looking Percheron cross mare I rode a few times. I always had the feeling she had four feet under her and a leg at each corner no matter what we were doing. She just made me feel so safe. I good friend finally bought her from the stable and she proved to be the absolutely perfect horse for his wife to enjoy.
Don't begrudge the money if this guy is the right one. The "feeling" is far more important than anything.
I'll send a pic of my new youngster when I get him--tomorrow. Fate has somehow stepped in to make sure he was delivered before I could change my mind.
Big bold ears. Large jaw. Smallish chin/mouth. Linda Tellington-Jones wrote a book about face shape = character. Important to look at the whole head, not just one aspect.
Looks a good sort, not pretty, but who needs pretty.
woah...Caddy is away already...phew, where have I been..... :-) I hope all works out well with getting Tet's a new place.
I like the look of the new lad....a unique marking...I love those. Can't wait to see a pic of the whole horse...roll on Monday.
