All of a jitter.

I can’t concentrate on anything. I haven’t managed to complete a SuDoku without making mistakes all week. If I’d ridden Tia this morning she’d probably have burst out through the concrete wall. I imagine that Victoria feels exactly the same way and is twitching just as much as me. Though perhaps not quite as much, because she doesn’t have a good friend leaving on the same day. How strange that will be.

I have Court tomorrow thank goodness and I really will have to concentrate and not let my mind wander. Otherwise when the Chairman asks if I have any questions to ask I’ll be murmuring “when is he due a wormer?” in her ear in a shoplifting case :-)

I trimmed Tetley’s feet this morning so that they are as perfect as possible for Friday. For the first time in his life he now has a decent thickness of hoof wall on the sides of 1 and a half of his front feet. Just one still to go, and that was the side which was a total disaster when the shoes came off, where the frog was way, way off centre and the outside of his foot stretched massively to the side. I will really regret not being able to see them through the next year as they get even better.

I probably won’t post tomorrow, so by the next time I should have JP home. And be without Tetley. But let’s focus on the positive, I’ll have a huge project for the winter, and Tetley will have a great chance of being pain free for the first time in about a year.

Caroline I can identify with the constant butterfly type feeling.
That feeling should go on Friday as you settle into your next stage with the horses!
Will Tetley remain shoeless?

I was just thinking to myself that I know Tetley is on cider vinegar etc but so many vets in these spavin situations advocate bute to help them with the pain/inflammation- was that/is that an option for him?

Waiting is always so hard. I know that butterflies in the stomach feeling all too well.

Ah, yes, I can hear you now, "Mr. Jones, if you put shoes on your horse I will sentence you to three years...uhm, I mean, if you are quilty of...what was that accusation again?" Distracted?? Nah.

Tetley is going to be fine. I like your comment, "Tetley will be pain free." Your aching heart is putting it all into the right perspective. Think how much more comfy the dear fellow will be.

Wonder if a safety belt on the saddle would help you sit that canter? *VBWG*

Bute was an option but he would be on it constantly and it is toxic, especially to the liver. He's only ten, so goodness knows what damage it could cause him long term. Other options also existed in terms of medication, like constant steroid injections. But there is a very, very strong possibility that down on flat ground he will be sound without any of that, especially if he gives up jumping. I just feel I owe him that life, and that to keep him here medicated would simply be selfish on my part and not in his best interests.

A friend just sent me this, about her 8 year old daughter:

"Catie almost burst into tears when I told her that Tetley was going. He is the sort of horse that everybody loves."

Says it all really.
