What a ^%$^%$£^% cockup!
I got up at six o'clock and got Jazz ready. We left at seven and arrived shortly after eight. It was a Riding Club area championships and they are really hot on vaccination certificates with a 100% check and I had Jazz's with him as I always do. Only to find than in 2003 the stud in Holland got his third jab wrong by a couple of months. Although he has been vaccinated annually since 2003 and is up to date, I was not allowed to compete and I am back at home, seething. To cap it all it's a great day, with practically no rain in spite of an atrocious weather forecast. It would , quite simply, have been a perfect competition for him to do.
That really blows apart the rest of the competition season for me. The next available affiliated is Skipton in August, but it's a horrible journey and too far to go when we are far from certain that Jazz will complete the course. So our next is not until August 9th or 11th, depending on whether we choose Eland or Bold Heath.
I've wasted my time and Allan's and my brother's and his friend's; my diesel; my £30 entry fee and to cap it all I now have to pay for two extra flu jabs that Jazz does not need and that have the potential to overload his immune system (it's more common with chestnuts, I believe, but it is increasingy recognised as a problem for some horses). It's not a good day!

I agree too about the extra flu shots. Not the best idea if it's not necessary.
Around here they don't as a general rule check vaccinations. All horses must have a negative Coggins test to compete, though.
Good weather too. What a bummer. All I can do is offer heartfelt sympathy. Maybe you will luck out and there will be some other little event available to get Jazz the experience he needs.

that is absolutely ridiculous - i know they say rules are rules, but that one looks like sheer jobsworthing 4 years down the line....could have seen the point if it was only very recent (like this year) but 3 years ago? i'll seethe with you...
How frustrating!!! And unnecessary! And then to have to wait so long for another competition! We ended up having beautiful weather in Cambridge too.

Flip Polo's never had a flu jab in his life(only gets tetinus) so I'd be screwed :0
I was meant go to a show today but with all the rain didnt feel like going to the effort of plaiting up etc just to get rained on or it being cancelled so didnt bother...typical cos its not been a bad day!
Got roped into helping my friend judge though..anyone know whats the lasted craze with everyone using gags??I wouldnt care but most if the neddies needed rockets up their arse!
Saddle going well im impressed Ryan nearly sh#t with our first lesson in it..he was very forward to say the least!He's managed to change a head plate size in less than 2weeks ..she reckon the usual timescale is 4to 6weeks...typical Polo he has to be different!
Btw Forgot to tell you ive got puppies..Minx is a fab mum and they are huge(only two survived)
dont want to part with them but two boys with two girls..not a good idea!

I agree with everyone else here what a complete load of crap...like a late injection 4 years ago is going to make any bloody difference....You know what, I'd just get the blooming tipex out
It gets worse! I have just found out that my own riding club has the same rule, so I cannot compete in the two competitions that I wanted to do in July either!!! What damned nonsense, eh????
I tried Mandeigh, but the paper is so thin it's bleeding obvious :-0 I'll just have to start again.
Nicola, I'm glad the saddle is going well. I had exactly the same thing going Fhoenix to WOW. When I first got treeless, I got filling in of the shoulders, then after about 6-9 months, I got atrophy again, just in a slightly different place. With the WOW, I got immediate filling in of the atrophy and that was maintained.

How utterly annoying. I think the Riding Club are stricter than any other organisation about flu jabs.
I've carted my passport around to every show, and no-one has wanted to see it.

Me too Judith. I've been dope tested once, but never ever asked to show my passport. Only at Riding Club Area, where they go overboard and check every single one!
