Got my times
I have good times for Thursday - dressage 14.46 showjumping 17.38 cross country 18.18
So time to walk the cross country after the dressage, and she can rest. And no time between the two jumping efforts for her to go off the boil, which is great. The provisional timetable gave a 14.30 start to the dressage, but they have started the class at 11, so I won't be hanging around half the morning twiddling my thumbs while we wait to go.
Tia is fine again today and did some nice work. My strategy today was just to school gently for half an hour. I wanted to hack but having got this far I'm taking no risks with her feet before Thursday. I did trot halt transitions until she gave up being stupid and running off or chucking her ears down my throat. It took maybe 8-10 minutes, but it cured both the walk quality and the trot at the same time. You know horses though, it probably won't work next time :-)
I took Tetley out for a hack and he is a spring dork at the moment :-) He is either dawdling or walking too fast. He won't give me anything in between. He always goes a bit daft in the spring and this is mild compared to normal. I frankly have no idea if he's completely sound, he's not putting two strides of the same length together at the moment! Since he powered away uphill let's assume he's fine :-)
Oooooooooooooooh I could do without that new saddle when he's chucking me around like this though - of course it's been on Tia lately, and she doesn't use her back much. But now it's on Tetley I'm really pretty uncomfortable at times. The second hand one is nicely worn in and settled in the seat. This one is going to take some time to relax and it's question of who wears in first - it or me!!
Tomorrow I'll update you on what constitutes "success" for Thursday. It doesn't include the words "win" or "place", and even "finish" is conditional. Hey, do you think I ought to learn the dressage test sometime soon?

Tetley equal heat in each hock. Preferring left diagonal. probably sound.

Well it might help!:0:)
I cant wait to hear how it goes!
you had better learn it .... or go do real dressage where it can be called LOL
May you do the right thing at each marker and may Tia have wings on her feet over the fences.
Those times are great! You don't have to get up at the crack of dawn, and stadium moves right in after the XCountry. Someone up there is looking after you and Tia!
I can't wait. Don't know how you will. *G*
Like the expression "chucking her ears down your throat" - I know exactly what you mean!
Hope Thursday is a good experience for Tia, with a rider not trying to push her to place first time out I'm sure it will be :D GOOD LUCK TIA!!
Carolyn, don't forget to read my response in the post below to your comment about the four foot hedge. ;-)
How's the dressage test going?
wednesday night - good luck for tomorrow, expect pictures and a blow by blow account .....
Daft isn;t it - why can't we carry a whip? and Why can't it be called?? Stoopid roools.
OK, learnt it. I think it's prelim 1 or 4 so it was pretty easy. A load of trot to start with then a short canter, walk and another short canter. Easy peasy.
